I think ol' Tom might need to lighten up (or hush up a little) on this issue; could make the difference on him getting re-elected.

Actually his district is highly Republican and extremely conservative. He's quite a local hero to some folks, but still quite controversial among others.

It's interesting to see someone I've known since I was a teenager become a national figure. I certainly admire Tom for his convictions and his determination to raise this issue, which he has done successfully.

Unfortunately, his whole approach is completely impractical and short-sighted. Does he honestly think 12 million illegal aliens are just going to give up their lives here and leave the United States because the government tells them to?

Naturally the white elite in this country wants to go back to the wholesome goodness of the Eisenhower 1950s era, or at least to salvage as much of that privileged, mythical lifestyle as possible.

But as a famous poet once said, "The times, they are a'changin'." It's down to basic mathematics at this point. The Latino population is reproducing in epic proportions. Soon they will outnumber every other demographic group in this country.

I hope Congressman Tancredo's grandkids are learning to speak Spanish.

I could not agree with you more Dude. I voted for Tom and agree with him politically on the issue, but I think he is very unrealistic in what he is fighting for. but you have to admire his conviction and he's great entertainment!
